This is a dream come true jumpsuit. It’s a power suit that is comfortable, put together and easy. It’s designed to be lived in and look great worn out. It features a zippers that goes below the waist for easy on and off, a plain front waist with elastic around the sides and back to create a flattering and comfortable cinch, our signature stand up shawl collar, and a roomy cap sleeve. The front pockets are functionally deep and the back pockets are equally useful.
The Augusta Jumpsuit is named after Augusta Savage. She was an African American Sculptor who moved to New York City in 1921 to study art at Cooper Union, beating out 142 men on the waiting list for her spot at the college. (Rona, our founder, also studied at the Cooper Union.) A trailblazing sculptor associated with the Harlem Renaissance, Augusta Savage was also an influential teacher and activist, advocating for equal rights for African-Americans in the arts. 1
